NEW KENT – New Kent's golf team placed 4th in the state tournament on October 14-15.

In Class 3A, Tunstall (601) edged Wilson Memorial (603) to win the Class 3A team title at the Heritage Oaks Golf Club in Harrisonburg. Hidden Valley (623) finished third and New Kent (646) was fourth.

Travis Frazier paced the Trojans with a total score of 151. Cole Baldwin finished with a 157, followed by Jordan Peck (167), Parker Wallace (171), Austin Pierce (177) and Cole Hitchcock (186).

In Class 4A, Jamestown High's golf team celebrated back-to-back Group AA state golf championships with a record-setting performance.

This marks the Eagles' fourth state title in school history, and third since 1999. Coach Doug Meredith, who has guided the team to three of those state titles, was especially proud of his team. "It means so much," Meredith said in an interview on Tuesday. "Especially for the seniors, who had their sights set on this for the last four years."
