RHP Mike Leake pitched 7 2/3 shutout innings on Tuesday night, halting a rough stretch for the Reds right-hander. He struck out eight and did not walk a batter. "That ball was moving more than normal," Arizona catcher Miguel Montero said of Leake. "His sinker was working."

LHP Aroldis Chapman pitched a scoreless ninth for his 23rd save and the 100th of his career on Tuesday night. "I had no idea he was accumulating them at that rate," said Reds manager Bryan Price. "The first one hundred of what I hope are many more." Chapman had one strikeout to extend his major-league record streak for a reliever to 45 straight games with at least one K.

RHP Curtis Partch was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday for his fifth stint this season with the big-league club. Partch has retired 19 of his 28 batters he's faced with two hits and seven walks. He earned his first major league victory on July 11.

LHP Manny Parra is battling back soreness and could be unavailable to pitch for up to three days. Parra last pitched on July 20. "He has a little bit of a back stiffness," said Reds manager Bryan Price. "There's a possibility that he'll be capable of pitching (Tuesday). His back's been acting up. He's been unavailable." Parra has an 18-game scoreless streak.

RF Jay Bruce was placed on the bereavement list on Tuesday following the death of his grandfather. He will rejoin the club on Friday. Bruce is batting .215 with 10 homers and 42 RBIs but has struggled mightily since the All-Star break, going 3-for-32.
