FAU players, in a show of team solidarity, opted not to wear their last names on their jerseys Saturday against Tulane.
The Owls, who wore red jerseys for the first time this season, replaced the players' names with “FAU.”
FAU wore the red jerseys last year with player names.
FAU was rocked by the Wednesday resignations of head coach Carl Pelini and defensive coordinator Pete Rekstis. Both men admitted to drug use, which was first alleged by an assistant coach, who signed an affidavit that stated he saw both men use cocaine in the last year.
FAU’s offensive coordinator, Brian Wright, was named interim head coach on Wednesday.
FAU, 2-6, needs to win Saturday to keep its bowl game hopes alive. The Owls must win their remaining four games to reach 6-6 and bowl eligibility.
