Langley All-Stars defeated Mathews County 12-3 Saturday in the District 7 Little League tournament at Langley Air Force Base.
Chris Langhorne of Langley finished with three hits, including a three-run home run in the first inning.
Michael Day of Langley picked up the win, going six innings.
The win puts Langley in the winner’s bracket Monday against Middlesex at 5:30 p.m.
In Senior Division play at Poquoson High, Phoebus nipped Deer Park 2-0, Northampton walloped Lancaster 25-1, York thumped Middlesex 15-1 and Langley downed Poquoson 7-4.
Langley broke a 4-4 dealock with a three-run seventh inning against Poquoson in the day’s best game.
John Martin’s two-run single and an RBI single by Barry Brooks highlighted Langley’s winning rally.
Langley pitcher Keith Bellard bested Keith Tucker.
Northampton collected 10 hits and John Blankenship pitched a one-hitter against Lancaster.
The game was halted after 4 1/2 innings due to the 10-run rule.
Steve Williard fired a three-hitter and Bill Zimmerman produced three hits and three RBI to spark York’s victory.
Elsewhere, Hampton Wythe was a 7-1 victor over Parkview in Majors Division competition. Scotty Major pitched a six-hitter and had six strikeouts for the victors.
