A 12-year-old girl and her grandmother may have been abducted by a man known to have been infatuated with the grandmother, according to a news release from the Virginia State Police.
The girl and her grandmother were last seen around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday in the 2800 block of South Main Street in Harrisonburg.
Officials issued an Amber Alert Tuesday for Angie Carolina Rodriguez Rubio, 12, of Harrisonburg. She is a Hispanic girl with long curly brown hair and brown eyes. She stands 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 112 pounds, according to the release.
She was last known to be wearing a floral black blouse with black leggings and white sandals.
The grandmother, Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio, 48, of Harrisonburg, is described in the release as a Hispanic woman with black hair and brown eyes. She is 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighs approximately 140 pounds.
She was reportedly wearing a burgundy blouse with a black skirt.
Police said the pair may have been abducted by Hareton Jaime Rodriguez-Sariol, a Hispanic man with short black hair and brown eyes, who has historically been known to be infatuated with Elizabeth Rodriguez Rubio.
Rodriguez-Sariol is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds.
If the pair was abducted by Rodriguez-Sariol, they are likely headed towards New York in his white 2000 Volvo tractor-trailer with Virginia license plate number 21739PZ.
Rodriguez-Sariol was last seen at the 2-mile marker on Interstate 66, where his Volvo was involved in a vehicle fire.
