Bridge at New Kent/Charles City County closed due to deterioration

NEW KENT – During an inspection of the bridge at the Chickahominy River on Rte 618/Adkins Road (at the New Kent/Charles City County line), deterioration of the deck slabs were found. T he Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports that the bridge will be closed until further notice. A detour route and various message boards will be placed on Rte 60 in New Kent and near Adkins Store at the Rte 602/618 intersection for notification of the closure.
