12/18 Special Column: January Crime Solvers meeting to be held in West Point

Residents urged to give to those in need

10:04 AM EST, December 18, 2013

The West Point Police Department welcomes you to join us for the Mattaponi Crime Solvers meeting scheduled for January 8, 2014 at 7 p.m. at the West Point Town Hall. This will be the first meeting in quite some time to be held in West Point and we encourage residents to come out and learn more about this organization which is comprised of volunteers. Mr. Travis Lindsey of King William Emergency Services will present a brief program on how police, fire and rescue coordinate and work together in an emergency situation. Please attend and support this worthy cause. We hope to see you there!

With Christmas just a week away, there are certainly many last minute considerations still needing your attention. As we all try to find that perfect gift, consider making a donation to your favorite charity in the name of that special someone. Whatever you choose to spend will have a much more lasting value to someone in need. It will also probably mean as much if not more to someone who already has everything they need. Besides, how many salt and pepper shakers or garden gnomes can Aunt Gertrude use at one time anyway?

Whether you are traveling near or far this Christmas season, please be safe and responsible. The West Point Police Department wishes you and your family the best for the holidays and in 2014.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Chief Bobby Mawyer
