NFL player has local ties

KING & QUEEN — Seattle Seahawks defensive tackle, Clinton McDonald, No. 69, has ties to Middlesex and King and Queen counties.

McDonald's father, Larry McDonald, is a 1968 graduate of St. Claire Walker High School in Middlesex and his mother, Bonnie Byrd McDonald, is a 1977 graduate of Central High School in King and Queen.

Clinton McDonald is the third of six children born to Larry and Bonnie McDonald who reside in Jacksonville, Ark. He is the grandson of Earl Ruffin of Philadelphia and Ethel McDonald of New York, and Virgie "Polly" Byrd of Little Plymouth, Va.

Clinton McDonald attended Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Ark. He went on to attend the University of Memphis in Tennessee. He was picked 249th in the 2009 NFL Draft in the seventh round to the Cincinnati Bengals. He played with the Cincinnati Bengals for one year and was then traded to the Seattle Seahawks .
