Colonial Downs, Blue Knights partner for Dogwood Classic fundraising

NEW KENT – Colonial Downs and the Blue Knights Chapter XVII from the Tri-Cities area of Central Virginia will partner for the second straight year in an effort to raise funds for several important non-profits at the second annual Dogwood Classic on April 5th.

The Dogwood Classic is a combined steeplechase racing and tailgating event that will take place at Colonial Downs Racetrack in New Kent. A series of sanctioned National Steeplechase Association (NSA) jump races are held on Colonial's turf course while vehicle tailgating occurs on the outer 1 1/4 miles dirt track.

The Blue Knights Chapter XVII is an 80 member group of active and retired law enforcement officers that support community service organizations through fundraising activities and volunteering their time. There are currently 600 Blue Knights chapters in 24 countries.

Funds raised through initiatives at the Dogwood Classic will support Shriner's Hospitals for Children, the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program and V-COPS (Virginia Coalition of Police & Deputy Sheriffs).

Reserved tailgating spaces are now on sale at dogwoodclassic.com or at 804-966-7223, ext. 1073. Premier vehicle spots along the stretch are $200 while spots on the backstretch and in either turn are $125. Both price points include six general admission tickets to be used by the driver, passengers and other guests. Additional general admission tickets can be purchased for $10.
