To the editor:
We want to share a success story that happened at St. Stephens Baptist Church. It takes generous people to make events prosperous and beneficial for worthy causes and we had lots of generosity sent our way when we held our Fall Festival a few weeks ago. So let us give our thanks to God above for his blessing on this event and the people of this community. In addition we would like to thank everyone who donated items to the Silent Auction at St. Stephens Baptist Church's Fall Festival on Saturday, Oct. 26. Here is a list of the local merchants who gave generously to this cause:
Cassidy Auto Service, Karen's Attic, Bennett Mineral Company, Tommy's Produce, Peebles, Domino's Pizza-Central Garage, Subway-CG, Four Seasons Hair Salon - KW, King William Vet. Clinic, James River Equipment Company-Tappahannock, Lancaster Tavern, Hanover Lanes, Radio Shack - KW, Walmart - Tapp, Martin's - Mech., Food Lion CG, Don Pedro's- CG, Robo's Detailing, Aylett Animal Hospital, Romancing the Stone, 360 Hardware, Andrea's Hair Care-Tapp, Watt's & Sons Store, Seafarer's Restaurant - KW and Southern States - KW. Many church members also donated numerous items which helped bring in approximately half of the proceeds as well. All total we took in just under $1,000, all of which will be donated to our local volunteer rescue quad units that so greatly deserve it.
So thanks to the donors and also a HUGE thank you to all of you in the community who came out and bid, bid, bid! We hope you had fun and left with something and will come again next year. In addition to the indoor Silent Auction there were lots of other activities. Church members helped with face painting and an indoor yard sale, a bake sale and homemade items sale. Brownie Bevans brought ponies enjoyed by all. Church members provided music and a small bouncy and 360 Hardware the large bouncy. Others brought horses and there was also a hay ride enjoyed by many. What fun! Scott's Store donated delicious hotdogs that sold out as did the Brunswick Stew. We are so grateful for the participation, the attendance, the fun, the great weather and the successful sales that will benefit our community in many ways. Hope to see you all again next year.
