God's moral law has not changed since the beginning of time. Just because our culture sends the message that anything goes and your opinion is all that matters does not change the fact that our creator created us for purpose and unless we do it His way we are trading diamonds for dirt. Proverbs 12:28 (NLT): The way of the godly leads to life; that path does not lead to death.
This same moral law applies to parents and children. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NLT): We are human, but we don't wage war as humans do. We use God's mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.
Our truth for parenting in today's culture must come from God's Word. He has our best interest at heart and the best plan for our lives and the lives of our children. Let's join God and lead them to Him. Parents want their children to shine with a uniqueness that sets them apart. The absolute best way is to lead them to the narrow gate that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 7:13-14 (NLT): You can enter God's Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.
There is a story about an old violin that was tattered and torn and thrown to the side. A master violinist picked it up and transformed it with his touch into a magnificent instrument that provided joy and beautiful music for all who listened. When we invite The Master, Jesus, into our hearts, our homes and introduce Him to our children we are transformed also from being tossed to and fro and tattered and torn into magnificent instruments that resound God's grace and mercy. Pick up your Bible. Do life God's way. Hold the bar high. God's way has not changed.
