Congratulations to the Class of 2014! I was quite impressed with the ceremony held at West Point High School on Friday evening. While thunder rumbled and the rains fell outside, the gym was filled with proud families who will long remember the accomplishments of the graduating seniors. This year's class received over one million dollars in awards and scholarships to assist in their continuing education. This number certainly reflects upon the caliber of our students which speaks volumes to the quality education provided by the teachers and the administration of the West Point school system!
As the summer is now upon us, the West Point Police Department would like to encourage all students to enjoy their break and engage in activities beneficial to our community. There are a number of endeavors to pursue from volunteering at churches or community centers to making a few extra dollars saving for that special car, truck or date… and these in no particular order! Whatever you choose to do, please be mindful that your actions are a reflection of your family and our community. Choose wisely and participate in those activities that bring credit to our town. It is never too early to start building a resume which would push the graduating classes in future years to exceed the scholarships received by the Class of 2014!
Please contact the West Point Police Department should we be of assistance to ANY member of our community as we continue to foster the relationships which make West Point a great place to live, work and play. Go Pointers!
