Norfolk man arrested and charged with abduction, assault in New Kent County

NEW KENT – A Norfolk man has been jailed after allegedly abducting and assaulting a woman in New Kent County.

According to a New Kent Sheriff’s Office press release, Xavier Tyler Slayton, 19, was arrested on June 26 and charged with abduction, assault and battery, and disorderly conduct for an incident that took place in Talleysville.

The sheriff’s office reported that on June 26, employees at the Pilot Gas Station, located off Emmaus Church Road, called the sheriff’s office in regards to a physical altercation that was taking place inside and outside of the store.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Slayton was allegedly already being detained with the help of store employees.

As reported by the New Kent Sheriff’s office, upon further investigation, deputies discovered that Slayton knew the victim and was trying to forcibly remove her from the gas station and back into their vehicle.

Slayton was transported to Henrico Jail East, where he was held without bond.

He is set to appear in New Kent County General District Court on Tuesday, July 1 at 8:30 a.m.
