New Kent thrift store employee charged with embezzlement

NEW KENT – A New Kent County thrift store employee has been arrested and charged with embezzlement from her employer.

According to the New Kent Sheriff’s Office, the Cornerstone Thrift Store, located in Providence Forge, called the authorities to report an employee that was suspected of embezzling over $200 during June 5-14.

After further investigation, the sheriff’s identified Vanessa Julieann Chadwick, 19, of Providence Forge, as the employee in question and charged her with felony embezzlement.

Chadwick was arrested on June 22 and transported to Henrico Jail East, where she was served the warrant and released on a $2,000 unsecured bond.

The investigation is still ongoing and Chadwick is set to appear in New Kent General District Court on June 24.
