NEW KENT – A Star Motel resident was tased last week after he was caught attempting to burglarize the motel.

According to a press release issued by the New Kent Sheriff’s Office, Glenn J. Lanno, Jr., 43, failed to obey an officer’s commands after he was spotted trying to enter the rear office window of the motel, located at 3800 Pocahontas Trail in Quinton.

The Sheriff’s Office reported that they had received an early morning call on April 1 alerting them to the attempted burglary. Deputy W. Johnston responded and when he came upon the person, later identified as Lanno, the suspect ran towards him, not listening to the officer's commands.

The Sheriff’s Office said Johnston was forced to use a X26 taser to subdue and detain Lanno.

Johnston’s investigation revealed that Lanno was wearing a black ski mask during the attempted burgalry and also had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person and appeared to be intoxicated.

After receiving medical attention from New Kent Fire & Rescue, Johnston transported Lanno to Henrico Jail East and charged him with attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, peeping tom, and appearing in public in an intoxicated condition.

Lanno is currently being held without bond. He appeared in New Kent County General District on April 2 for arraignment. His case was continued until Tuesday, May 13 at 1:30 p.m.
