New Kent Sheriff's Office looking for information about home invasion, assault

NEW KENT – The New Kent Sheriff's Office is looking for information about a recent home invasion and assault.

On June 17, 2014 at approximately 2:42 p. m. the New Kent Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received a call from a homeowner in the Rockahock Road area (Lanexa) of New Kent County.

The caller reported that she had returned home to find that a male at the location was bleeding from the head and it was reported that it appeared that he had been hit by someone.

Sheriff’s Deputies and EMS was dispatched to the scene. Upon the arrival of the first arriving Sheriff’s unit it was determined that this appeared to be a home invasion with an aggravated assault.

The victim was provided immediate first aid treatment by the Sheriff’s units on scene. New Kent Fire EMS personnel entered the scene and provided advanced medical treatment to the victim who was flown to VCU Medical Center. Sheriff’s units were dispatched to meet the victim and the family at the medical center. These units were on hand to assist the family as needed and to obtain any additional evidence/statements.

Sheriff’s units were on the scene until around midnight that evening.

The investigation continues with detectives from this office working on evidence evaluation and following up on any and all possible leads.

At this time this office does not believe this is a random act.
