Henrico woman pleads guilty to New Kent burglary

NEW KENT – A Henrico woman will be sentenced next month for burglarizing a New Kent County residence.

Melissa Dawn Miffleton, 27, was arrested on Oct. 17, 2013 around 1 p.m. on an outstanding warrant, and charged with burglary (during the daytime) and petit larceny from a home off Dispatch Road in New Kent.

Miffleton appeared in New Kent County Circuit Court Monday, where she pled guilty to burglary. As a part of her plea bargain, the petit larceny charge was dropped.

According to the New Kent County Sheriff's Office, the residence was burglarized on Aug. 9 during the daytime hours, and “only a small item was taken.”

Based on physical evidence located at the scene and Miffleton's statement, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Miffleton was arrested and taken to Henrico Jail East, where she was served and held on a $2,500 bond.

Miffleton is set to face sentencing in New Kent Circuit Court on May 19 at 9 a.m.
