When I walked into the hall to see an entire class of preschoolers stretched across the hallway wearing a brown "K" pouch around their waist, I was not quite sure what to think. Then their aide, Rose Hunt, told me they were kangaroos hunting for Ks to fill their pouches. Of course, I thought. Now that makes perfect sense! I followed them into the classroom where I watched as they hopped about locating, and filling their pockets, with letters. Each time they put a "K" in their pouch their teacher, Tiffani Nash, instructed them to make the "K" sound. Pretty soon the room was filled with shuffling and the sounds of "K", "K," providing the preschoolers with a memorable connection to help them remember the letter K!
