NEW KENT – A convicted felon is behind bars after breaking into a home and stealing prescription medicine.
Connor Thompson O'Leary, 27, of Quinton, was arrested on August 31 and charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny, non-violent possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance, and possession of marijuana (second offense).
That day, the New Kent Sheriff's Office received a call from a homeowner on Club Drive in Quinton, reporting a breaking and entering that had already occurred.
When Deputy E. Quarles arrived, he found that a rear window in the residence had been shattered.
The homeowner verified that only prescription medication was taken from the residence.
After canvassing the area, officers obtained a description of O'Leary's vehicle, which was found at the Star Motel in Quinton.
O'Leary was interviewed and later charged with the burglary.
After obtaining a search warrant for O'Leary's vehicle, officers found a loaded firearm, prescription medication, and suspected marijuana inside the vehicle.
O'Leary was arrested and held at Henrico Jail East without bond.
He appeared in New Kent County General District Court on Tuesday, where his case was continued until September 24 at 1:30 p.m.
