Quinton woman found guilty of stealing jewelry in New Kent

NEW KENT – A Quinton woman has been found guilty of stealing jewelry from New Kent residents.

Samantha N. Rigdon, 21, was found guilty on Monday, Aug. 11 in New Kent Circuit Court of three counts of grand larceny, and one count each of trespassing and illegal drug possession.

Rigdon will be sentenced on Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. She will also face two additional drug possession and distribution charges that day.

Rigdon was arrested on April 10 on charges stemming from an investigation of stolen jewelry from a home on Old Church Road, said Commonwealth's Attorney Linwood Gregory.

According to court documents and police accounts, Ridgon stole jewelry from three different people between March 1 and April 6. She later pawned several of the items, which were recovered by police.

Police testified that Rigdon was also found in possession of a pain patch prescribed to her father.

Gregory is recommending that Ridgon serve 1 1/2 years in prison and participate in a detention program.
