Female pilot/mechanic at Middle Peninsula Regional Airport wins spot landing challenge

KING & QUEEN – Middle Peninsula Regional Airport pilot and airplane mechanic, Anna Brown, has some serious bragging rights.

Brown, the sole female participant at the Wings, Wheels, and Keels flying competition at Hummel Airfield in Topping, won first place in the spot landing challenge, where she landed within 100 feet of the line.

Brown was awarded $2,000 in $2 bills.

The Wings, Wheels, and Keels is an annual family event at Hummel Airfield that includes automobiles, aircrafts, food and craft vendors, and prizes.

This year, the event had nearly 3,200 visitors, 206 registered automobiles, and 25 registered aircrafts.

The Tidewater Review will highlight Brown's career and achievements, including her recent win at the Wings, Wheels, and Keels event, in the 10/09 issue of the paper.
