NEW KENT –The New Kent Sheriff's Office has charged two men in connection with the early morning armed robbery of the Eltham 7-Eleven Tuesday.
According to a press release from the Sheriff's Office, at approximately 2 a.m. Thursday, two suspects were apprehended by deputies from New Kent and the King William Sheriff’s Office. The two agencies make up part of the multijurisdictional Emergency Response Team, which also includes members of the Charles City Sheriff’s Office.
Both suspects, Trey Daquan Smith, 19, of Shakelfords and Michael Sylvester Robinson, 38, of West Point, where taken into custody at a residence on Custis Millpond Road without incident while law enforcement was executing a search warrant at the residence.
According to New Kent Detective Donald Mehalko, at approximately 1 a.m. on May 6 two men entered the 7-Eleven convenience store located on Route 33, Eltham Road. One of the robbers was armed with a gun.
The two men made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene on foot.
New Kent released security images of the suspects Tuesday afternoon.
No one was injured during the robbery and no one else was in the store.
