Barhamsville man arrested for alleged assault, abduction of girlfriend

NEW KENT – A Barhamsville man is behind bars after allegedly assaulting and abducting his girlfriend.

Deandrew Lamont Jones, 33, of Tabernacle Road, was arrested on Jan. 8 by James City Police and charged with abduction by force (intimidation or deception) and assault & battery (of a family member).

Jones was wanted on misdemeanor domestic assault and felony abduction charges in New Kent County, resulting from an alleged Jan. 2 incident that occurred between Jones and his girlfriend. 

According to the New Kent Sheriff's Office, the incident was reported on Jan. 7 and a protective order was issued against Jones.

No injuries were reported and firearms were not involved, said police.

Jones remains in custody without bond.
