KING WILLIAM – One Aylett man was hospitalized and another was arrested this week following an altercation at a residence on Epworth Road.
According to King William County Sheriff Jeff Walton, deputies were called to the residence for a fight during the early morning hours of September 11.
Walton said that when authorities arrived, a 23-year-old man was found lying in the driveway with serious injuries.
King William Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to the scene and the victim, whose name has not been released, was airlifted by LifeEvac to the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.
Investigators charged Zachery E. Rhea, 21, of Aylett, with malicious wounding following the incident.
Walton said that authorities did not know the cause of the fight but did believe alcohol was a factor.
Rhea is currently being held without bond in the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center in Saluda awaiting a court appearance in King William General District Court on September 19.
