NEW KENT – The New Kent County School Board is seeking the public’s input on qualifications for a new superintendent.

New Kent Superintendent Dr. Robert “Rick” Richardson, Jr. announced his retirement on Jan. 8, which is effective July 31.

Today, the School Board released a survey with questions related to superintendent criteria at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/NewKentCoSupt.

Hard copies of the survey are also available at the New Kent County School Board Administration Office (at the historic courthouse) and at each of the schools.

The survey is open to parents, staff, and New Kent County residents until Feb. 24. The School Board will also hold a public hearing that night at 7 p.m. in the School Board Offices.

“Hiring a new superintendent is the biggest task facing a School Board and we want to make sure that the public has a voice in this process,” said School Board Chair Leigh Quick in a press release.

“We hope that parents, staff and residents will take time to fill out the survey and/or attend the public hearing.”
