Pictures: Heritage Public Library presents Paws to Readİ
Dogs across the country are teaching children to read. Why did Heritage Public Library sign on? Because these trained therapy dogs listen and don't tease, or laugh, or judge the child. Through Paws to Read© the Library has created a positive, nonthreatening, fun environment for Charles City and New Kent children in a relaxed setting. And it has helped improve their literacy skills and their reading confidence. Paws to Read pairs a therapy dog, Glinnie, and her handler, Loughan Campbell, with young readers. Warm brown eyes and doggy grins make all the difference to the reader's learning experiences. For more information on the program, or to sign your youngster up for a reading session, phone 804-966-2480.
