One man has been arrested and another is wanted in connection with a burglary at a Hampton home Monday morning, police said.

Officers responded to a burglary in progress at a home in the 100 block of Pocahontas Place shortly before noon, police spokesman Sgt. Matt Bond said in a news release.

Police think the two suspects knocked on the front and back doors of the home, and after no answer, they forced their way inside, Bond said.

Two children who were home at the time said they heard loud noises coming from the side of the home where the suspects forced their way in. They hid while the burglars took two televisions, a laptop and a microwave. They then fled the area in a blue Dodge SUV, Bond said.

Shortly after, a responding officer saw a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle. The SUV was speeding and did not stop for a traffic light, Bond said.

Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the the vehicle did not stop. Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance until the driver lost control in the 400 block of Settlers Landing Road. Both occupants ran from the vehicle. Police apprehended the passenger, but they were unable to catch the driver, Bond said.

Steven A. Kelly, 24, with a last known address in the 1000 block of Barney Street in Norfolk, was arrested in connection with the incident. He is charged with one count each residential burglary, grand larceny and conspiracy to commit a felony, Bond said.

A second man, Calvin Lamont Mason, 31, of the 800 block of East 27th Street in Norfolk, is wanted in connection with the investigation. He has warrants for one count each residential burglary, grand larceny, conspiracy to commit a felony, driving revoked and evade and elude, Bond said.
