The State 4-H Qualifying Horse Show was recently held at the State Fair Grounds in Richmond. 4-Hers must show in the show to qualify for the State 4-H Horse Show held in September. There were more than 250 youths who participated in 78 classes, from more than 25 counties. Some of the classes provided were showmanship, equitation, western, hunter and English divisions, gymkhana and calf roping.

Jennifer Clough riding Franks Cat Dancer – Flag Race, first place; Barrell Race, third place; Pole Bending, fourth place; Reserve Champion in gymkhana horses speed classes.
Nicole Ledtje riding Sheza Doll Two – Senior Western Showmanship in Hand, Red Danish Ribbon; Senior Western Stock Seat Equitation, sixth; Senior Western Pleasure second go, fifth.
Meghan Dinger riding Frostie – Junior Showmanship in Hand, Red Danish Ribbon, Hunter Pleasure Large Pony Junior Rider first go, sixth place; Hunt Seat Equitation Junior Rider, sixth place.
Lena Byrne riding Blew-Buy-Ewe – Junior Hunter Showmanship in Hand, Red Danish Ribbon, Hunt Seat Equitation Small Horse Junior Rider, sixth place; Hunter Pleasure Small Horse Junior Rider first go, reserve.
