Indeed.com launched its open resume search Sept. 14, but the site has been taking resume uploads since February, including imported LinkedIn profiles.
Indeed is known for its search of Monster, CareerBuilder and other job boards. It also categorizes job titles by salary, an estimate based on the 20 percent of postings that give a pay range. It shows an average of $76,000 for Chicago listings, 4 percent above the U.S. average.
The search engine also scrapes employer websites. Indeed.com shows 3,369 full-time employer postings this past week from within 15 miles of Chicago. Results filter down to 380 listings at the the six-figure level, but that include some unlikely big-payday prospects, such as loss-protection specialist at Best Buy.
Active companies this week on Indeed.com include the consulting firms Deloitte, PwC and Accenture, as well as HCR ManorCare, the University of Chicago and AT&T.
