McDonald, Whitam exchange vows

KING WILLIAM – The marriage of Jennifer Marie McDonald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul McDonald, of King William, to Robert Alan Whitam, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rick Whitam, of Gloucester, took place Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in West Point. Deacon James Conklin, of West Point, officiated.

The bride is the granddaughter of the late Herbert and Beatrice White, of King William, and the late Oscar and Marie McDonald, of St. Marie, New Brunswick, Canada. The groom is the grandson of Phyllis Russell and the late Robert Russell, of Chesapeake, and Robert Whitam and the late Gail Whitam, of Valdosta, Ga.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

Amanda Leigh Fincher, of King William, was matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Kelly White and Sarah Garner, of King William, Lee White and Jenn Call, of Gloucester, and junior bridesmaid was Kimberly White, of Gloucester. The flower girl was Abigail Leigh Fincher, of King William.

Ryan Price, of Gloucester, was best man. Groomsmen were Todd Coons, Randy Coons, Raymond Whitam, Melvin Call, and Gary Whitman, all of Gloucester. Ring bearer was J.D. Fincher, of King William. The mistress of ceremonies were Dale Edwards, of Highland Springs, and Darlene Lloyd, of Ashland. The guestbook attendant was Marian White, of King William.

The wedding reception, hosted by the bride's parents, was given at the Van Den Boogaard Center, West Point. The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, was also held at the Van Den Boogaard Center.

A lovely horse and carriage ride was enjoyed by the bride and her father before the wedding ceremony. A second ride was enjoyed by the bride and groom after the ceremony. The horse and carriage were provided by M. Brownie Bevan, of King & Queen.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Williamsburg and now resides in King William.
