Name: Road Warrior 21-inch collapsible carry-on
What it is: Luggage that collapses to less than 6 inches deep for storing when empty.
The good: This line of collapsible luggage is great for storing under the bed at home or, for those neatnicks who unpack on vacation, in the smaller storage spaces at hotels or on cruise ships. Road Warrior calls the technology Micro Pop. What it amounts to is a few pull tabs inside the suitcase that, with a gentle tug, pull the sides in and shrink the luggage to a depth that lets it slide under my bed or into other storage spaces. I found the carry-on size roomy enough for a two-week trip. The sleekly designed bag weighs 9 pounds, 2 ounces and has smooth-rolling wheels that make it easy to maneuver. The sturdy construction meant I didn't have to worry about breaking fragile souvenirs in the bag. A built-in add-a-bag strap was a nice plus.
The bad: Just the price; suggested retail is $550.
Cost: At press time, the 21-inch piece was on sale for $329 at roadwarriorluggage.com and aceluggage.com.
