Daily Deal: Super surfer girls to square off in Oceanside
You can watch top female surfers this weekend in Oceanside when such talent as Bethany Hamilton, Carissa Moore (see below) and Coco Ho compete in the Ford Supergirl Pro. The three-day event features heats, head-to-head competitions and a big surf expo. And it's all free.
The deal: No tickets are required to watch the surf events that start Friday and end Sunday. Access to the Festivle Village also is free, so you take advantage of free hairstyling (Paul Mitchell is a sponsor) as well as music, dance, yoga and a chance to get autographs from the pros.
When: The Supergirl Pro runs 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Details: Go early if you want a good spot. The surfing events will be held in an area near the south end of Oceanside Pier at the end of Mission Avenue. (There are free and paid parking lots along Mission Avenue.)
