Outdoor summer concerts start Saturday at Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard with '60s and '70s classic rock from Masters of the Past. The free music continues all summer with a variety of performers who will play rock, reggae, Cajun-zydeco and even a string band.
The deal: Concerts by the Sea are free and open to the public at Peninsula Park, 3401 Peninsula Road. It's a good excuse to pack up some food, spread out a blanket and take in the two-hour concerts in the seaside town. Parking is free.
When: Concerts will be 4 to 6 p.m. Saturdays through Aug. 31.
Details: The lineup includes a Cajun-zydeco band called Acadiana on July 13, Sean Wiggins & Lone Goat on July 20, the reggae band Dirty Rice on July 27 and the Ventucky String Band on Aug. 10 that bills itself as playing "California Country."
