Tax and don't spend with freebies on Tuesday

Nothing is certain but death, taxes and freebies.

Americans everywhere will celebrate Tax Day on Tuesday, which is the deadline to file your federal income tax return.

OK, "celebrate" might be the wrong word.

But freebies are the bright spot in an otherwise dismal day when we hand over large chunks of our income to the IRS.

But before I get to the free stuff, consider these helpful hints from the IRS:

The 2013 1040 EZ instructions state: "We have designed the instructions to make it as simple and clear as possible to file your tax return."

There are 42 pages of instructions.

Save valuable time by skipping ahead to Page 4 and figure out how to claim a refund for a deceased taxpayer because you'll likely be dead by the time you read it all.

Attach Form 1310 and refer to TeleTax topic 356 and Pub. 559. Or, use Form 1040A or 1040 instead. Or call 800-829-4477. Be ready to take notes.

These are actual instructions.

Doing your taxes may be complicated, but getting free goods on Tuesday is EZ with my roundup of stuff available on Tuesday. No forms are necessary.

You deserve a break on Tax Day so have penny Big Macs and Quarter Pounders With Cheese when you buy one at all South Florida McDonald's restaurants.

Get two individual chicken meals at Boston Market for $10.40. No coupon necessary.

If you'll be burning the midnight oil, stop in at Dunkin' Donuts for a free Turbo Shot with a coupon on the chain's free mobile app.

Snag a free chocolate chip cookie at participating Great American Cookies locations. No purchase necessary.

Stop in at R.A. Sushi in Pembroke Pines, Palm Beach Gardens and Miami, where happy hour will run from 3 p.m to closing. Appetizers start $2.25 and beer, wine, sake and cocktails are $3-$7.

Finally, South Florida Entertainment 2014 coupon books, normally $35, go on sale for $10.40 at Entertainment.com/TaxDay.
