Everything you should know about elder abuse

On Wednesday, May 4, the Daily Press held a live Web chat on elder abuse. Last year in Virginia, more than 17,000 complaints were received statewide by Adult Protective Services for neglect, abuse and financial exploitation of seniors. Almost 60 percent were substantiated. Abuse happens in all socio-economic groups and all educational levels. Shervonne Banks and Gloria Dixon from Newport News Social Services answered your questions on recognizing abuse and the resources available.
