Numbers don't lie: There's no denying that the Ford Explorer, introduced in 1990, was an enormous success, quickly becoming — year after year — the top-selling SUV. The four-door, V-6-powered sport utility vehicle filled an enormous hole in Ford's lineup, as the models that preceded it, the Bronco and smaller Bronco II, were never offered with rear doors.

Confronted with rock-strewn hills, or pavement that is flat, straight and most likely located in Illinois, drivers of vehicles that easily switch between two- and four-wheel drive should know which button to choose.
The debate over whether the Ford Mustang should be called a muscle car or a sports car is a long-standing -- and pointless -- one, but I think the 2011 model's new drivetrains and chassis refinements give fodder to both sides of the argument.

There's a meaty master's thesis for some MBA candidate in the history, and historic mismanagement, of the Ford Taurus, which launched to overwhelming praise for the 1986 model year and has sagged since.
