Forget that old trick of wearing one's heart on one's sleeve. This is the political season and one's sleeve — one's entire attire even — can be a billboard proclaiming loyalty to a party or a cause. With these updated hues, designers are certainly making it easy for women to go wild in all ways partisan.

Republican? Red, of course. But the stylish GOP gal will want to go deep and dark with oxblood, like the wool and leather suit from Rag & Bone. Democrat? Electrify your local poll watchers in Prabal Gurung's luxurious cobalt-blue metallic knit top. Independent? The whitest white of Alexander Wang's military coat touts your political purity while the thigh-high slit suggests a sexy realpolitik.

Don't worry about any dirt getting thrown at you for your color choice. Simply say you wrapped yourself in Old Glory for inspiration. And long may you wave!
