Mary Meade's Hungarian goulash

Makes: 4 servings

2 medium onions, chopped

2 tablespoons fat

1 1/2 pounds beef stew meat, cut in cubes

2 tablespoons paprika

1 clove garlic

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup of water or meat stock

Cooked noodles

Cook the onions in hot fat until yellow. Add beef cubes, seasonings, and water or stock. Simmer about 90 minutes or until the meat is tender. Serve over noodles.
