West Point High School One-Act play team places first in district, heads to regionals

WEST POINT – The West Point High School's One-Act drama team won first place in the first round of competition on Tuesday, October 29. They will now move on to compete at the regional level on Saturday, November 9 at West Point High School, starting at 11 a.m.

There will be eight teams competing for first and second place that will then move on to the state competition in December.

West Point's team performed a one-act piece called, "Cagebirds," by David Campton. Team members are: Lilly Acuna, Paige Melton, Alanis Ellingson, Cassi Tomiko, Gi Gi Acuna, Hannah Zwerner, Kadi Carver, Autumn Hixenbaugh, Willow Pedersen, Katie Capps, Michael Getman, and Willie Daniel. Techs running the lights and sound are: Jay Dudley, Tyler Britt, and Morgan Shelton. Beverly Hammond directed the show.

All members of the community are welcome to attend the regional competition on Saturday. Doors will be closed during performances, but will open between each show, which last no longer than 35 minutes each. There is no admission charge.

We would appreciate everyone coming out to cheer us on and enjoy some talented student performances at the same time.
