The program helps parents understand the importance of both parents having an active, involved, and positive relationship with their children. Parents will learn: How divorce or separation and continued conflict impact children; How to talk with children about the situation; How to manage conflict and emotions constructively; How to take care of children during the changes in the family; How to develop a positive co-parenting relationship; The group takes place in a supportive and nurturing atmosphere. Cost of training: $50 per person. West Point Cancer Support Group
The West Point Cancer Support Group offers support to current cancer patients, survivors and their family members/caregivers. The group is comprised of all ages, sexes, types of cancer, etc. and is also open to West Point's surrounding communities. The Group meets the third Monday of each month at 7 pm. The meetings take place at the West Point YMCA located at 3135 King William Avenue.
Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Group
The Alzheimer's Association Caregiver Support Groups are designed to provide emotional, educational and social support for caregivers through regularly scheduled meetings. They help participants develop methods and skills to solve problems. The groups encourage caregivers to maintain their own personal, physical and emotional health, as well as optimally care for the person with dementia.
