NEW KENT – On Saturday, Aug. 2, the New Kent Cooperative Extension Office will host a Raised Bed Gardening Clinic from 10 a.m. to noon at the New Kent Extension Office, 11809 New Kent Highway, Suite 1, New Kent. This clinic is free of charge.
Master Gardeners, specially trained Virginia Cooperative Extension volunteers who use horticulture to promote strong land ethic, good health, and a higher quality of life, will talk about the advantages of raised-bed gardening with vegetables. In addition, topics will cover what it takes to have a successful vegetable garden, how to create a garden design, good soil composition and ways to add organic matter to your gardening beds. There will also be a visit to the New Kent Master Gardeners' demonstration garden, on site at the Extension Office.
