George W. Watkins Alumni and Scholastic Association holding New Kent Senior Idol

NEW KENT – The George W. Watkins Alumni and Scholastic Association invites seniors 60 years and older to compete for the title of 2014 New Kent County Senior Idol. The event, co-sponsored by Senior Connections-The Capital Area Agency on Aging, will be held Oct. 18, at the George W. Watkins Elementary School at 3 p.m.

Senior Idol-Gospel Revue contestants must be prepared to sing at least two different spiritual or gospel songs. Judges will rate contestants based on factors such as originality, style and stage presence, as well as audience responses. The contestant receiving the highest score will be declared the 2014 Senior Idol.

Seniors interested in competing must be residents of New Kent County and at least 60 years old by Oct. 1. Contestants are required to complete and submit an entry form by Sept. 16.
