Maybe Friday really was the end of the world: Ashton Kutcher finally filed for divorce from Demi Moore, more than a year after the actress said she was ending it with her allegedly unfaithful husband.
The papers were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to People, in one of our favorite celebrity moves — the discreet pre-holiday news dump. Irreconcilable differences, of course, and Ashton's not seeking spousal support nor asking that Demi be denied any, says the mag. No kids together simplifies things as well.
According to TMZ sources, Kutcher waited so long to file to give Moore a chance to file first. Apparently, he figured a year was long enough for her to save face.
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton," Moore said in a statement back in November 2011. "As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life."
Indeed, both parties have appeared to move on, with Kutcher canoodling and traveling with longtime pal Mila Kunis while Moore reportedly had a thing going for a while with much younger guy Vito Schnabel.
And of course, she became @justdemi on Twitter in May, ditching the @mrskutcher handle she'd worn so publicly and proudly.
Maybe she thought that was enough?
