The first paid concerts in Taste of Chicago history will be announced Thursday, including performances by Jennifer Hudson, Death Cab for Cutie, Chaka Khan and Dierks Bentley.
On Wednesday, the Chicago City Council approved a $25 fee for the 3,000-seat pavilion at the Petrillo Music Shell for all Taste headliners. Admission to the lawn area outside the pavilion will continue to be free. The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events says details on how the tickets will be sold at the pavilion will be available next month at www.tasteofchicago.us.
Here are the headliners so far: Hudson on July 11, Death Cab for Cutie on July 12, Khan with Raphael Saadiq on July 14, and Bentley with Lindi Ortega on July 15. In addition, there will be a free Radio Disney-sponsored show for children at 11:30 a.m. July 14, and a 4 p.m. July 12 performance by rising Chicago band Kids These Days. More performers are to be announced in the future, including a July 13 headliner.
