Call it a hunch.

It was reported over the weekend that Vince Vaughn will star in and produce the adaptation of the Image Comics graphic novel, “Term Life.” And seeing how the Lake Forest High School alum often tends to film movies he produces in Chicago, one can’t help but wonder if “Term Life” will follow in the footsteps of “The Break-Up,” “Fred Claus,” “The Dilemma,” and, to a lesser extent, “Couples Retreat" and shoot here as well.

“It is a possibility,” said “Term Life” producer Bill Block by email Sunday, “but too early to tell at this point.”

In the crime thriller, Vaughn will play Nick Barrow, a father who puts out a $1 million insurance policy on his own life because mob bosses, hitmen and corrupt cops want him dead as soon as possible. Because the policy doesn’t kick in for 21 days, he needs to stay alive until then for his estranged daughter (played by Oscar-nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld) to receive the money.

Sounds kind of interesting, right?

Peter Billingsley -- who directed Vaughn in “Couples Retreat” and produced “The Break-Up,” Wild West Comedy Show” and “Made” with him – will direct “Term Life.” Vaughn’s sister Victoria is listed as a producer. Filming is tentatively scheduled to begin in January.
