You probably know close to nothing about “Underemployed” -- other than the fact that the MTV show spent the summer filming in Chicago. The brand new series doesn’t have a star like “Boss,” as many recognizable faces as “The Mob Doctor” or any of the controversy that surrounded “Mob Wives Chicago.”
So what does "Underemployed" have?
A good looking cast, according to the new trailer. They’re playing recent college graduates, so they’re also really young. Oh, and they have pretty sweet lofts in the city, too.
And yet, I’m guessing we’re supposed to relate or feel sorry for these characters who look like the cast of “California Dreams” because the economy has forced them to take jobs they don’t like. Miles – played by Diego Boneta, who starred in the underrated “Rock of Ages” – is stripping in the trailer.
If you want me to really feel bad, there should be a down-on-his-luck character who moves nine times and lives in four different states, including in Connecticut on his sister’s couch and in Miami with his retired parents, in two years after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. And just for the hell of it, let’s make him Colombian-American and call him, I don’t know, Luis.
Anyway, it’s hard to tell where exactly most of the clips in the nearly three minute trailer were filmed. I’m pretty sure I saw the Water Tower in there and what looks like Bruce Wayne's penthouse, but I don’t know for sure. I do, however, know the show spent a while in the Wicker Park area, including at Gold Star, so I assume that neighborhood will be well represented.
