Disappears: Masters of the dark, deep, trace-inducing guitar swirl, the quartet will debut tracks from its fourth studio album, “Era” (Kranky). Didn’t think it would be possible, but on “Era” the band sounds more cavernous and terrifying than ever, 9:30 p.m. Friday at the Empty Bottle, 1035 N. Western Av., $12, $14 (at door); emptybottle.com.

Chicago Music Summit: After a day of panels at the first annual summit of local music presented by the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, 20 local artists and bands will perform in a series of free showcases, focusing on rock (headliners Santah), hip-hop (Kembe X of the Village), contemporary classical (Dal Niente), jazz (Marquis Hill’s Blacktet), blues (Eric “Guitar” Davis and the TroubleMakers) and electronic music (Atmospheric Audio Chair), 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington St., free; cityofchicago.org.
