Mudhoney: The quartet – an influence on Nirvana and the Seattle “sound” of the early ‘90s that briefly threatened world domination -- is still making a mighty racket with biting guitars and savage wit intact, as evidenced by the recent “Vanishing Point” (Sub Pop), 8 p.m. Saturday at Mayne Stage, 1328 Morse Av., $29; maynestage.com.
North Coast Festival: Now in its fourth year, North Coast has become a Labor Day weekend rite for music lovers on five stages in Union Park. As usual, the lineup favors electronic music (Afrojack, Purity Ring) and hip-hop (Wu-Tang Clan, Mac Miller, Just Blaze) with a jam-band flavor (Lotus, Big Gigantic, Disco Biscuits), 3:30 p.m. Friday, 1:30 p.m. Saturday-Sunday at Union Park, 1501 W. Randolph, $150 three-day pass (sold out) and $55; northcoastfestival.com.
