There’s a chance former Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich would have gone to Roots Handmade Pizza in Ukrainian Village Wednesday to watch the Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants game on NBC, you know, if not for the fact that he’s serving a 14-year sentence on a corruption conviction.

Blagojevich visited Roots to watch Cowboys games four to five times last season. I’m told he would sit in the private dining room with just his small group – usually consisting of his daughter, a friend or two and his bodyguard – and ordered pitcher after pitcher of Diet Pepsi. Apparently staff would drop off a pitcher and it would be empty two minutes later.

Blagojevich was said to be "upbeat and jovial" (even though the Cowboys finished with a very average 8-8 record that season and missed the playoffs) and would frequently talk to other customers he’d run into in the hallway about anything.
