The Foo Fighters, who already are scheduled to close the Lollapalooza festival Sunday, also will play a more intimate concert Saturday at Metro.

Tickets went on sale without much fanfare Thursday at etix.com and sold out within minutes. The concert is one of more than two-dozen after-shows affiliated with Lollapalooza the next three days at Chicago clubs. The booking continues the long relationship between the North Side club and Foo Fighters’ singer-guitarist Dave Grohl. Grohl first played the club in the early ‘90s as the drummer in a fast-rising Seattle band, Nirvana. He played among his first shows with Foo Fighters there in 1995, opening for Mike Watt. And in 2009 on Lollapalooza weekend, he debuted a new trio, Them Crooked Vultures, with Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones.
